Swadlincote Wednesday Netball League 2nd April

In the heart-pounding season opener of the Swadlincote Wednesday's Netball league, the teams in the League division gave their all on the court, setting the stage for an exhilarating season ahead.

The Hoola Hoops took an early lead in the division, overcoming Shooting Stars with a score of 12-8. This thrilling match showcased the team's tenacity and strategic acumen, promising an exciting season for their fans.

However, the real standout match of the evening saw Get The Rebound face off against Block And Shot. Despite a spirited performance, Get The Rebound was outpaced by Block And Shot, who closed the game with a 14-9 victory.

Wildcats, unfortunately, started the season on the back foot, suffering a heavy 18-2 defeat against Pink Ladies. The latter team displayed formidable prowess, hinting at a strong season ahead. Meanwhile, Hoopsie Daisy and Hoops I Did It Again competed in a nail-bitingly close match, with the latter narrowly edging out a 6-3 win.

The player who stole the show, however, was the talented Leah Ibbs from Get The Rebound. Despite the team's result, Ibbs' outstanding performance on the court earned her the title of the Most Valued Player of the week, highlighting her as a player to watch this season.

While it's still early days in the season, the top scorers for the League division so far are Pink Ladies, having dominated their opening match with an impressive 18 goals.
