The curtain was raised on the inaugural week of the Swadlincote Wednesday, a Netball league with a series of thrilling contests in the Premier League. Among the high-intensity clashes that took place, the standout performers were undoubtedly the Shooting Stars, Block And Shot, and Pink Ladies who all got off to flying starts.
In a powerful display, the Shooting Stars eclipsed The Hoola Hoops 9-4, setting the tone for what promises to be an exhilarating season. Block And Shot also wasted no time showcasing their talent with a 16-9 victory over Get The Rebound. Meanwhile, the Pink Ladies demonstrated their might with a 17-3 triumph against Wildcats.
However, the evening's most intense contest was Hoopsie Daisy's nail-biter against Hoops I Did It Again. In a fiercely contested battle that had everyone on the edge of their seats, Hoops I Did It Again edged past Hoopsie Daisy with a nerve-wracking 9-8 victory.
While each team had its moments of brilliance, the shining star of the week was undoubtedly Libby Curran of Hoopsie Daisy. Curran's exceptional performance on the court, coupled with her leadership and tenacity, earned her the well-deserved title of the most valued player of the week.
As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the top scorers of the division. With this thrilling start, we are already eagerly awaiting the next round of matches. If the opening week is any indication, we are in for an exhilarating season of Netball.
