The Shrewsbury Sunday Netball League kickstarted with an adrenaline-fueled week of play, as the teams in the League took to the court to begin their campaign for the season. The games were packed with high voltage energy, delivering nail-biting performances and setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling season ahead.
In the League, the teams exhibited skillful play and tactical prowess. The match between Snooze You Shrews and Shrew D'you Think You Are? was a fierce competition, with Shrew D'you Think You Are? emerging victorious 9 to 6. The game was characterized by rapid-fire passes, excellent defensive work, and pin-point shooting accuracy from both teams.
In another closely contested match, Bear Steppers narrowly clinched victory over Quarry Queens with a 9 - 8 win. The game had everyone on the edge of their seats as each team exchanged the lead several times before the Bear Steppers managed to hold onto a one-point advantage at the final whistle.
Adding to the excitement of week 1, Karla Fletcher of Severn Sisters was conferred with the title of Most Valued Player. Fletcher demonstrated exceptional agility and precision, contributing significantly to her team's performance. Her outstanding versatility on the court and leadership skills were instrumental during the game, earning her this well-deserved recognition.
