The much-anticipated Burntwood Wednesday Netball League commenced last night. The seven-a-side netball competition had teams from the League division facing off in a thrilling series of matches marking the start of the season.
In the League division, the matches were intense and fraught with nail-biting moments. The Black Widows dominated the court against The Pink Ladies with a decisive score of 24-4. On another part of the ground, the Bloxwich Beaters showed their prowess, outscoring the Pocket Rockets with a final tally of 18-10. The Burntwood Stars shined against the Netball Ninjas, winning their match with an impressive 15-7 victory.
In a tight contest, the Chasers edged out the Lightening Strikers with a single point lead, ending the game at 10-9. The Kiss My Pass team showcased a flawless performance, securing a 16-0 win against the Hoop Dogz. Lastly, Hoop For The Best lived up to their name, defeating Hoop There It Is with a score of 19-3.
The star of the night was undoubtedly Amelia Townsend from Pocket Rockets. Despite her team's loss, Townsend’s exceptional performance earned her the 'Most Valued Player' accolade of the week. Her skillful maneuvers and tactical play were indeed a sight to behold and speak volumes of the exciting season ahead.
