Charlbury Wednesday Social Netball Update 1st May

In the latest round of fixtures in the Charlbury Wednesday Social Netball League at The Community Centre, teams displayed their competitive spirit and determination, resulting in an evening of closely contested matches.

I understand that there were a number of scrappy and frantic games throughout the evening. We don’t want injuries and in equal measure the umpire doesn’t want to be blowing the whistle every 5 seconds and killing the enjoyment of the game. Let’s not forget why we play!

Everyone either has jobs to go to or children to look after and no one wants to end up with unnecessary injuries from being over zealous in the matches. Our officials are also there to enjoy the sessions as much as the players and are not there to have their descisions questioned, so please be mindful of how you approach the umpires.

The match between Sky Shooters and Netchicks saw Sky Shooters emerge victorious with a 7-3 win. Alice Read's outstanding performance for Sky Shooters earned her the Player of the Match award, highlighting her crucial contributions to the team's success.

A thrilling encounter unfolded between Charlbury Shooters and Flaming Divas, with Flaming Divas narrowly clinching a 5-4 victory. Katie Banks from Charlbury Shooters was recognized as the Player of the Match for her stellar performance in a closely fought contest, which was also deemed the Match of the Night.

Pocket Rockets secured a hard-fought 4-2 win over Shoot For The Stars in another closely contested match. Both teams displayed strong defensive performances, resulting in a tight battle where the outcome could have swung either way.

The Wildcats continued their dominant form with a convincing 10-3 victory over Ball Saints. Gabriella Barnes' exceptional performance for Wildcats earned her the Player of the Match award, showcasing her pivotal role in leading her team to victory.

While the Wildcats have already secured the league title, the battle for the runners-up spot remains intense, with only two points separating the teams from second to fifth place. With each team vying for their position in the standings, the competition promises to remain fierce in the remaining fixtures of the season.
